Job Summary
Trimble Office of Data Protection is seeking a Data Privacy Engineer that will be embedded in Cloud Core Platform to ensure compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR and CCPA using Records of Processing Activities (RoPA) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA). This role, a blend of technical and business focus, will be reporting to the Office of Data Protection.

Trimble Cloud Core Platform creates cloud-first workflows that enable Trimble's customer-centric approach using products and common core services to connect data, users, and applications across the enterprise.

This position can be located anywhere for the right person. Preferred location is Westminster, CO.


Key responsibilities:


  • Work for Office of Data Protection within Cloud Core Platform to translate Data Protection principles into development specifications and backlog items


  • Perform technical engagements to assess data privacy by design


  • Become the thought leader and principal technical resource for data privacy for our core shared product infrastructure


  • Engagement with teams to document Data Protection, including DPIA and RoPA


  • Evaluating assessments for Risk Management, including Vendors and DPIAs


  • Think broadly in your approach as new privacy regulations develop


Qualifications


  • At least 5 years of experience, including 3 years of software engineering experience on public clouds such as AWS or Azure


  • 2 years of experience with GDPR: DPIA, Data Mapping including assessments in Records of Processing Activity and Vendor Risk Management


  • Experience using OneTrust, preferred


  • Understanding of the IT and/or software engineering process and tools


  • Understanding of best practices in data lifecycle management, security and data protection and privacy


  • Analytical, but pragmatic mindset and ability to simplify complex concepts


  • Ability and willingness to learn more about data protection and deepen knowledge e.g. by taking certification exams and being the technical expert. CIPP or CIPT certification is a plus.


  • Excellent (internal) customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal (to the right audience), with a strong attention to detail


  • Able to work with little day-to-day direction, working across multiple organizations / roles, on multiple simultaneous projects


  • Quickly establish competence and trust with your (internal) customers BS or MS in computer science, information systems or related experience
