This position works with guidance from the supervisor to prepare and present routine reports and occasionally lead routine problem solving efforts. The position will maintain effective working relationships with others.

**Level of position will be determined by applicable education/experience.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Working independently, the incumbent:

• Prioritizes and performs task as required to meet station and department objectives.


• Investigates and analyzes complex issues.


• Coordinates assigned projects, studies and initiatives through completion.


• Complies with safety policy and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.


• Prepares and presents reports including recommendations to resolve complex issues.


• Participates in and on occasion leads special projects and committees.


• Leads complex problem solving efforts.

Required Minimum Education and Experience

• 4 yrs. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required. Electrical Engineering degree preferred.


• > 5 yrs. related job experience preferred.


• Job level based on years of related experience.

 Skill Requirements

• Proficient computer skills in standard Windows programs (Excel, Word, etc.).


• Communicate complex issues effectively through written and verbal communication.


• Effectively advocate and collaborate across organizational boundaries.


• In-depth understanding of power plant equipment and systems.


• Able to utilize out-of-the-box thinking to develop multiple technically-sound solutions.


• Able to apply systematic problem-solving processes to address complex issues.

Position Specific Job Duties and Skill Requirements

• Trend, monitor, and analyze performance of electrical systems (including switchyard and large power transformers) with an in-depth understanding of the function of components and their impact on system performance.


• Understand component failure modes and mechanisms, develop troubleshooting, and perform basic failure analysis.


• Work with vendors to support equipment reliability, including review of test results, parts selection, failure analysis and repair, and field service of components.


• Produce health reports on electrical systems and develop action plans to improve system reliability and performance.


• Participate with industry groups and develop industry peer relationships for benchmarking and improving site programs.


• Use past performance, industry standards and guidance, and system knowledge to develop maintenance strategies.


• Understand and ensure system adherence to Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensing basis requirements, NERC standards, and IEEE, ASTM, ANSI, etc. code requirements.


• Identify system vulnerabilities that could adversely affect plant performance and develop strategies to mitigate or eliminate failures.


• Maintain a big picture view of electrical systems to maximize system reliability through preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and long-term asset management. 

Work Environment

• Occasional long, irregular hours including work in excess of 12-hour days for extended periods.


• Occasional travel between company facilities, and occasional overnight travel.


• Occasional weeks of ‘on-call’ engineering response to emergent plant issues.

Final pay grade will be determined based on candidates skills and qualifications.
