Job Description:

Through our multiple companies and divisions, we provide traditional community banking and commercial banking services, wealth management solutions, commercial and life insurance premium financing, mortgage origination, and short-term accounts receivable financing and certain administrative services, such as data processing of payrolls, billing, and treasury management services. We provide community-oriented personal and business banking services to customers located in the greater Chicagoland area, northwest Indiana, and southern Wisconsin through more than 175 community bank locations.

This position is an excellent opportunity to lead the design, administration, implementation, and communication for all broad base and executive compensation programs. Leading a compensation team in the design and development of compensation programs that are effective, equitable, and aligned with Wintrust’s business goals and talent strategies. This is a collaborative role that regularly consults with Senior Leadership and HR Business Partners to provide recommendations and solutions to the company’s compensation programs and processes.

Responsibilities


  • Manage the mid-year and annual compensation cycles including market pricing, salary range development and review, salary budgeting, and administration of merit increases and bonuses. Review and maintain incentive programs to ensure pay for performance.


  • Manage and assist in ongoing benchmarking surveys to ensure competitiveness and internal parity.


  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and competiveness of compensation programs and processes.


  • Make recommendations which streamline processes and enhance the company’s ability to hire and retain employees in a timely basis.  Ensure compensation programs support the organization in retaining key sales professionals and high potential talent.


  • Drive sales performance by providing expertise and support on incentive program review and design. 


  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local laws relating to compensation.  Ensure compensation practices are compliant with all regulatory and legal requirements. 


  • Collaborates with HRIS team regarding compensation systems design, enhancements, upgrades, testing, and maintenance. 


  • Oversee accuracy and all deliverables for quarterly compensation committee meetings.


  • Responsible for drafting and populating all compensation related elements of annual proxy.


  • Responsible for daily management, direction, and oversight of a team of compensation analysts.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or other related field.


  • 5-10 years compensation and people management experience


  • Base and incentive compensation design and administration experience.


  • Broad knowledge of compensation principles, practices and procedures inclusive of commission and sales incentive programs.


  • Experience in change management and influencing executive management.


  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of executive compensation as well as public company equity and bonus plans.


  • Ability to inform, educate and influence managers and employees to support compensation goals and objectives.


  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and consultative skills with the ability to develop positive working relationships throughout the business.


  • Ability to review, analyze, and interpret data, write formulas, create pivot tables and graphs, and provide conclusions and recommendations based on analysis.
