As a Business Sourcing Data Analyst, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Developing solutions for multi-faceted, interrelated, and complicated problems which require thorough analytical skills and significant interpretation of data


• Immersing self in business needs to offer questions to be answered by data/insights that will aid in moving the needle from “I think” to “I know.”


• Extracting, combining, analyzing, and presenting data from multiple data sources based on Lean Six Sigma, “Just Do It,” and other business initiative project requests.


• Identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvements through analysis of sourcing information and metrics that impact service, speed, or cost


• Supporting and improving existing Sourcing Operations processes around Spend, Responsible Sourcing, Purchase Order to Invoice E2E, Category, and Compliance reporting

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• Two (2) years of combined experience with data extraction, visualization, and analysis/interpretation in a public, private, government, or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Working knowledge of one or more: SQL, business intelligence tools such as SAP Business Objects, PowerBI, QlikView, Cognos, Tableau, etc. and an understanding of how to analyze and present data in a meaningful way that leads to informed business decisions


• Proven track record of intellectual curiosity and process improvement/automation, with an ability to influence and persuade cross functional teams


• Intermediate (graphing, pivoting, sorting, and formulas) proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with an ability/desire to develop advanced Excel skills.


• Knowledge of business processes and systems functionality within a Sourcing or Procurement function

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
