The Hammond lab in the Department of Cell Biology is searching for a new Research Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to get to grips with some of our cutting edge techniques and innovative research covering the role of lipids and membranes in health and disease. The position will include approximately 10% time spent on managerial tasks like ordering and compliance (to vary based on demand) - though the vast majority will be spent on experiments and research. The successful applicant will receive training and become adept in: * Molecular cloning techniques and gene editing with Cas9. * Cell culture * Live cell fluorescence microscopy * Quantitative digital image analysis * State-of-the-art super resolution imaging approaches Managerial responsibilities will include: * Assisting the PI in maintaining lab inventory and ordering * Assisting the PI in maintaining a safe and well maintained laboratory in compliance with EH&S regulations. Prior experience in some of these areas is essential. The successful applicant must have an associates degree or above in a biomedical or associated scientific subject that encompassed several credits of research experience; the candidate must also be reliable, organized and possess strong interpersonal skills.
