Job Summary

Responsible for establishing the BI/reporting strategy and roadmap within First American Home Warranty. Work with leadership team to define business metrics, drive reporting requirements and guide implementation of the overall reporting strategy. Mentor and develop other team members.

Job Description Essential Functions


  • Leads initiatives to design and build reporting tools, information dashboards, data generators, and other end-user information portals or resources.

  • Plans and manages the activities of a team that provides technology-based data reporting tools and management for business segments or the company at large.

  • Brings expertise or identifies subject matter experts in support of multi-functional efforts to identify, interpret and produce recommendations based on company reporting and data needs.

  • Advises business groups by providing technical and strategic reports that identify and address business issues and opportunities.

  • Ensures that policies and procedures align with corporate vision.

  • Build strong business relationships with internal customers and suppliers in order to drive efficiency and prioritization of efforts that align with channel and company goals.

  • Work with channel executives to guide and prioritize business requirements

Knowledge and Skills/Technology Used


  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, including experience with problem/issue definition and identifying and executing analytical approaches to examining a wide range of strategic questions.

  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative business research and analysis skills, ability to understand and analyze strategic and financial data, and experience synthesizing results from various analyses (e.g. customer needs, competitive positioning) to support strategy formation.

  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and follow- through on project assignments under time pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Demonstrated ability to positively influence others. Cross-functional team player. Able to thrive in a collaborative environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong business acumen, leadership and initiatives.

  • Excellent working knowledge of the following:

  • MS SQL server

  • ETL tools (SSIS, Alteryx, TalenD, etc...)

  • Reporting tools (SSRS, Business Objects, Pentaho, etc...)

  • Visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI, etc...)

  • Analytics tools (Alteryx, R, Python, etc...)

Nice to have:


  • Experience implementing MDM

  • Experience migrating between technical platforms

  • Experience in leading a successful Data Warehouse implementation

  • High business ethics and adhere to First American Corporation's and department's compliance and security policies, practices, and procedures in the performance of the role.

  • Must be proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Typical Range of Experience


  • 3-5 years of demonstrated supervisory/management skills.

  • 8+ years related experience in BI/reporting, data analysis, and/or financial analysis. Demonstrated successful track record of design, development, and completion of complex reporting initiatives
