Job Title:Journeyman

Location: Indiana, Ohio, Floridaor Georgia

What we are looking for:

The Non-Mechanical Field Technician position will entail working in diverse settings within the construction industry to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products.

Installation of (primarily carpentry, may include some additional trades) projects which has a beginning, an end and specified deliverables, with primary focus on timeline, schedules, and quality performance objectives. Knowledge of commercial construction, preferred basic understanding of electrical and/or refrigeration. Work place safety, is required.

What you will be responsible for in this role:


  • Understand the entire scope of the project.

  • Assist with the creation of a detailed project execution plan (PEP) which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.

  • Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed.

  • Work with and select materials such as wood, plastic, metal and drywall.

  • Read blueprints, drawings and sketches or work with a scope of work from supervisor

  • Ensure work performed is to code and specifications

  • Construct partitions and structures such as walls, frames, cabinets, counters, molding, etc.

  • Review the project schedule with supervisor and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required

  • Understanding the client objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.

  • Review the quality of the work completed with the supervisor on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards

  • Travelling and arriving to jobs sites on time and maintaining scheduled timelines.

  • Tracking and on-time submittal of weekly hours, job related documents and expenses.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in training opportunities;

  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Be able to travel for projects 60% to 80% of the time.

What are the basic qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

  • 5 + years experience with-in construction field.

To be a great fit for the role:


  • Proven experience as a carpenter (rough & finish)

  • Basic electrical knowledge is preferred

  • Basic refrigeration knowledge a plus.

  • Hands-on experience in working with building materials (wood, plastic, metal, concrete and drywall)

  • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction

  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (levels, drills, saws, etc.)

  • Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times.

  • OSHA 30 certification is preferred.

  • Good understanding of mathematics

  • Understand ethical behavior and business practices, and ensure that own behavior and the behavior of others is consistent with these standards and aligns with the values of the organization.

  • Speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques. Proficient in reading construction blue prints and specifications.

  • Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.

  • Positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization.

  • Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.

Working Environment:

In performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee is required to stand and walk throughout the workday; climb or balance; stoop, crouch and kneel. The employee must be able to climb on ladders, roofs and on occasion in high precarious places. The employee must be able to work in outdoor conditions where temperatures can exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Vision requirements include close, color and peripheral vision. Ability to work with moving mechanical parts, pressurized steam equipment, open flames, heated surfaces, liquids, and risk of electrical shock in damp, humid, or freezing conditions.

While on jobsites, this person must adhere to OSHA safety guidelines and protocols which means this person may be required to wear personal protective devices such as but not limited to hearing and eye protection.
