Job Description
Responsible for supporting Smiths Interconnect Incorporated's needs across all stages of engineering development including system architecting, requirements definition, concept design, prototyping, detailed design, verification and validation, production, FAA certification and lifecycle support. Will perform a variety of duties in systems, RF, and software development and test verification. Will work from systems documents and specifications, and follow written and verbal instructions, conduct test and report data and results in prescribed formats.

Responsibilities:
Performs system requirements generation, definition and analysis. Ensures traceability of systems requirements allocated to lower levels (subsystems, modules, and components) and their associated test cases and results.
Performs systems analysis, performance analysis, system design, detail trade studies, systems integration and test, requirements validation, and requirements verification
Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle
Supports business pursuits in the development of proposal Technical Volumes and Basis of Estimates for proposal responses
Contributes to the completion of major programs and projects, including presenting system engineering/system design criteria to the end customer and internal stakeholders
Plans and executes project tasks for activities described above
Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong use and understanding of systems engineering frameworks, methodologies and tools commonly used on Commercial Aviation and military programs
Knowledge of airborne Satellite Antenna Communications
Knowledge of Radio Frequency engineering
Strong knowledge of other related disciplines including Safety and Reliability
Strong proficiency in the development of functional, performance and environmental & EMI/EMC verification test plans for RF systems, RF subassemblies and antennas
Strong proficiency with requirements management & system modeling tools
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Ability to multi-task
Effective in communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actions
Strong ability to clearly report information relevant to sound systems engineering design
Strong understanding of basic project leadership principles
Knowledge of FAA certification requirements for aviation SATCOM systems
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required; Master's degree is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience with BS or minimum of three (3) years of experience with MS, in most or all of the areas below
Experience with RF/microwave products
Experience working within formal engineering, development, integration, requirements analysis, and/or testing processes for the development of complex systems
Minimum 2 years' experience working with system architecture, interfaces, protocols, control, planning, equipment, concept of operation, troubleshooting, policies, and/or procedures
Experience with standard system engineering processes for the development of complex systems
Experience or familiarization with analysis of satellite events, troubleshooting anomalies, outages, interference, technical feasibility, interoperability
Experience with avionics industry air worthiness certification and qualification processes, including ARP-4754, ARP-4761, DO-160, DO-254, DO-178.
Experience with ARINC requirements A791 and A792 for Ku/Ka Band Satellite (KSAT) systems
Experience with mechanically-steered and electronically-steered antennas
Experience with Lean Six Sigma methods of Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) including troubleshooting field support issues and factory collateral issues.
Travel: Up to 20% travel may be required
Security: U.S. Person required (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident). Ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance, if needed.
