Job Description:








RTI International is an independent, nonprofit research institute providing research, development, and technical services to government and commercial clients worldwide. The Food Security and Agriculture (FS&Ag) Division within the International Development Group is seeking a Project Associate to support our work infood security, market systems, nutrition, monitoring and evaluation, and disaster response.The successful candidate will provideentry-level operationaland technicalsupport in all aspects of home office project management and implementationand support businessdevelopment for the division.The position willsupport several projects in the division focusingprimarilyon the Gates Foundation MPACT project and other USAID-funded projects. The individual may be assigned to support other projects and business development efforts as needed by the division.

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Provide project management and operational support to projects and project management teams ensuring project management effectiveness and compliance with RTI and donor regulations.

  • Monitor and report on project and subcontractor budgets and cost performance.

  • Ensure project files and records are complete, accurate and compliant with RTI and donor requirements.

  • Review project costs to ensure compliance with procurement and finance procedures, identify challenges and errors, and work with field-based staff to find solutions.

  • Provide technical assistance support to projects as defined by the Project Coordinator.

  • Liaise and coordinate support services from Project Management Support Office business partners.

  • Gather inputs from various sources to draft project reports and other project or technical communications.

  • Monitor and lead correction process to ensure project documentation, deliverables and data are maintained consistently in accordance with policies and standards.

  • Provide administrative support to projects including coordinating meetings, agendas, and taking notes,

  • Provide logistical support for travel needs

  • Support business and proposal development needs of the assigned program as directed by the Portfolio Manager.


  • Perform other program, proposal, and/or project support duties as assigned.

The anticipated pay range for this role is between $50,000-60,000.

Minimum Required Education & Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant social science with 2 years of relevant work experience; or Master's Degree in relevant social science. Willingness to travel to difficult environments, including conflict zones.

  • Interest in food security, market systems, nutrition and/or monitoring and evaluation or similar areas.

  • Proficiencyin French.

Preferred Experience:


  • Proficiencyin an additional language, particularly French or Spanish.

  • Experience in project administration and management in international development.

  • Experience working with contracts or cooperative agreements funded by USAID or other international aid donors.

  • Understanding of USAID rules and regulations including 2CFR200; FAR and AIDAR.

  • Experience managing budgets.

  • Ability to operate across multiple time zones and in a virtual format, and digital literacy.

  • Experience working and/or volunteering overseas.
