Thin Film Technician I at II-VI Aerospace and Defense in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

II-VI Aerospace and Defense designs, manufactures, assembles and tests precision optical systems and components. Our products have been deployed on military platforms such as submarines, tanks, missiles, fighter jets and UAV's. II-VI Aerospace and Defense has grown over the years from a provider of specialty optical materials to a full service provider of optical components and optical systems.

Basic Function:

Under direct supervision, provides technical support in all aspects of the Thin Film Coating process including, but not limited to thin film testing and quality control. Performs support functions to keep the manufacturing running efficiently.

Job Requirements:

Education/Work Experience:

High School Diploma or (GED) or equivalent experience with emphasis on math or science.

Work Experience:

1-2 years minimum of manufacturing experience; knowledge of thin film evaporation chambers and processes preferred

Skills/Knowledge:

• Fundamental math skills are required; advanced math skills (algebra, trigonometry) preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to maintain concise written records.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in furnished written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to work in a clean manufacturing area
• Basic skills in MS Office.
