Job Description:

II-VI Aerospace & Defense designs, manufactures, assembles and tests precision optical systems and components. Our products have been deployed on military platforms such as submarines, tanks, missiles, fighter jets and UAV's. Basic Function:

Responsible for all financial and accounting functions for II-VI A&D. Directs and manages the Company's financial plans, policies, and practices to ensure correct reporting, forecasting, budgeting and profitability. Ensures full compliance with GAAP; FAR; DFAR and CAS. Provides financial leadership to develop financial goals and plans which support and ensure the Company's strategic goals are met. Provides financial oversight and leadership for acquisitions and expansions. Develops systems and policies which are robust, compliant with Sarbanes-Oxley, FCPA requirements and government requirements. Provides leadership to finance department and ensures the company's strategic and rapid growth goals are fully supported and met. Designs and implements overall A&D strategy and DFAR compliance requirements, including:


  • Modified to Full CAS
  • Full Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Compliant Accounting and Billing Systems
  • Provides leadership to two Controllers to ensure efficient and leveraged services are delivered to all locations reporting into A&D and accurate EAC are prepared quarterly.

Job Requirements:

Education/Work Experience:


  • BS in Finance/Accounting, Master's Degree, and CPA/CMA preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of finance management in an aerospace manufacturing environment, with hands-on experience in FAR, modified CAS, and CAS environments; experience in lean; and leading top quartile finance organizations.
  • Must have experience in managing multiple locations.
  • Merger and acquisition experience desired.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Strong verbal, presentation, and written communications skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a desire to obtain the greatest efficiencies without sacrificing quality.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required. Must be able to prioritize and delegate well.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and business processes.
  • Strong acumen in dealing in a matrixed organization
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting practices and reporting for government contracts and subcontracts including compliance with FAR and CAS.
  • The success of this position requires extensive interaction with personnel from many functions and at all levels of the organization including product manufacturing, sales and marketing, R&D, and contract management, as well as with corporate officers; external customers; auditors, and government personnel.
  • Must control, at appropriate levels, proprietary and confidential company information.

Errors in financial reporting could result in a misstatement of the organization's financial statements. Errors in planning, budgeting or forecasting could result in wasted resources, lost opportunities, and/or lost revenue or profit. Errors in the preparation of pricing rates could result in lost opportunities or lost margin/profit. Errors in indirect cost rate submissions to the U.S. government could result in lost profit or subject the company and the individual to fines and penalties.
