Job Description:

II-VI Aerospace & Defense designs, manufactures, assembles and tests precision optical systems and components. Our products have been deployed on military platforms such as submarines, tanks, missiles, fighter jets and UAV's. Basic Function:

With some supervision, operates sapphire crystal growth ASF and EFG equipment that grows sapphire boules and slabs. Participates in activities as directed to support functions so the equipment and processes run effectively.

Under some supervision, fabricates optical blanks and optical parts from sapphire boules following established procedures utilizing one or more standard processes.

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Work Experience:

1. Ability to read and understand process procedures and work instructions

2. Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and procedures closely and troubleshoot minor issues

3. Experience working in a production environment is a plus

4. Experience working in a manufacturing environment that includes working directly making products on complex equipment/machines is a plus

5. Experience with optical grinding processes is a plus

Skills/Knowledge:

1. Mathematical Skills

a) Ability to calculate figures and perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals and fractions.

b) Ability to interpret graphs and work with percentages.

c) Ability to use a calculator and reliably perform basic calculations.

2. Language Skills

a) Ability to read and comprehend English language written instructions.

b) Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

c) Ability to write routine notes and information.

d) Ability to communicate in English and speak effectively with other employees.

3. Reasoning Ability

a) Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

b) Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

c) Ability to anticipate problems and proactively identify potential problems.
