Job Description:

The Quality Technician performs testing of manufactured product, work in process and raw materials to determine adherence to specifications and reconciles documentation for shipment. Reworks product as necessary in order to meet specifications. Records the results of product testing and creates inspection sheets, reports and Certificates of Conformance. Job focus will be to ensure customer quality requirements are understood and achieved related to inspection criteria.

BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspects products including, but not limited to, DH panels, Plate/Sub tables, torso tiles and precision machined parts using gages, calipers, micrometers, tape measures, Coordinate Measuring Machines, scales, oscilloscopes, magnifiers, dye penetrant and vision for conformance to specification.
  • Generates spreadsheets and inspection sheets for data collection.
  • Keeps accurate written documentation/inspection records.
  • Reconciles final inspection documentation for product shipment.
  • Tests incoming raw materials.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), process control plans (PCPs), work instructions and guidelines.
  • Interacts directly with customers by creating Inspection Reports/Certificates of Conformance as quality documentation shipped with parts to customers.
  • Calibrates hand tools (calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks) as needed as part of a measuring device calibration program to ensure tools are making accurate measurements and worn tools are repaired/replaced.
  • Maintains a safe, clean and organized work environment.
  • Address all safety related issues immediately by informing the appropriate individual(s).
  • Comply with PPE requirements at all times
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:


    • High School diploma/GED required; Associate's degree/some college education preferred.
    • ASQ Quality Technician, ASQ Quality Inspector, ASQ Calibration Technician certification preferred.
    • Minimum 2 years experience working in Quality Assurance inspection required.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of basic metrology concepts.
    • Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, including post-elementary math skills. Ability to convert decimals to fractions and vice-versa.
    • Demonstrated ability to read and write using the English language (i.e., proven elementary reading and writing skills), as well as the ability to converse and comprehend using the English language.
    • Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office software: Excel, Word, Outlook.
    • Demonstrated ability to accurately/precisely measure materials using standard weights and measures. Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance knowledge and application preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of measuring tools including, but not limited to, CMMs, calipers, micrometers, tape measures, thread gages, surface roughness tester, etc.
    • Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend engineering blueprints and/or customer product drawings.
    • Experience using Zeiss Calypso, PowerInspect and PCDMIS CMM software highly desirable
    • Keen attention to detail.
    • Able to work effectively with minimal supervision in a team environment .
    • Able to pass written Skills Assessment with a score of 80% or better.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


    • Able to frequently lift push/pull objects up to 50 pounds, repeatedly.
    • Able to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility.
    • Ability to work productively in an environment with a wide range of temperatures.
    • Able to walk/stand a minimum of eight (8) hours per day.
    • 20/20 vision or better (the use of prescription glasses/contact lenses acceptable).
    • Ability to work at elevated heights on scissor lift (or similar) performing product inspections.

    This job requires that an individual come into contact with raw materials, products, equipment / machines, software or technology controlled by the Export Administration Regulations or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations. The job must be filled by a U.S. person, or a person for whom a valid export control license, or exception, has been obtained or is not required from the U.S. Government.
