II-VI Aerospace & Defense designs, manufactures, assembles and tests precision optical systems and components. Basic Function:
Under minimum supervision, fabricate optical parts following established procedures utilizing one or more standard processes.
Position Requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and comprehend English language, blueprints and written instructions. Ability to understand verbally the English language and follow directions.
Work Experience:
To achieve this position, must demonstrate expertise in the grinding area and have basic knowledge in one other area of the fabrication processes, and possess 2-3 years directly related experience or education.
Skills/Knowledge:
1. Mathematical Skills
a) Ability to calculate figures and perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
b) Ability to use a scientific calculator and perform basic calculations.
2. Language Skills
a) Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
b) Ability to communicate in English and speak effectively before small groups of employees in the organization.
3. Reasoning Ability
a) Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
b) Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
c) Ability to anticipate problems and proactively identify potential problems.
