Job Description:

II-VI Aerospace & Defense designs, manufactures, assembles and tests precision optical systems and components. Our products have been deployed on military platforms such as submarines, tanks, missiles, fighter jets and UAV's. Basic Job Function:

Under minimum supervision, fabricates optics parts following established procedures. Produce machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Job Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED and completion of CNC Programming Trade School or Relevant Course Work Preferred.

Work Experience:

Must demonstrate expertise in at least two areas of the fabrication processes, demonstrate knowledge in all other areas of the fabrication processes, and possess 3-5 years directly related experience or education.

Skills/Knowledge:

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals and fractions. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to use a scientific calculator and perform basic calculations. Ability to accurately calculate wedge, angles, and fringe calculations.

Reasoning Skills:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to effectively resolve employee relations issues and problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Must posses a high level of manual dexterity and care in handling easily damaged parts. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must demonstrate the ability to inspect parts with eye loupe and read small graduations of a micrometer and depth gauge. Ability to wear safety gear for extended period of time.
