Job Description:

Responsible for cost reduction, profit improvement, elimination of waste, increasing speed of execution, employee satisfaction, customer satisfaction, and for developing and implementing Quality strategies to enable II-VI INNOVION to become the worldwide leader in all targeted markets Responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Business Quality Management System used in San Jose, Boston, and Taiwan. This includes the ISO 9001 system, interfacing with customers on quality issues, handling external audits, and helping to design and install a quality system designed to create the highest product quality at the lowest cost in the industry. Ultimately responsible for assuring that the overall Quality System enables II-VI INNOVION to increase market share and profitability while maintaining the #1 market leader position in all selected markets.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities


  • Directs II-VI INNOVION Quality System and Processes
  • Directs day-to-day activities in Quality Department
  • Directs the establishment of Quality and Process Improvement-based cultures leading to performance excellence
  • Directs Quality support for support groups such as operations, engineering, and marketing with gathering and analyzing data worldwide
  • Directs and assures the effectiveness of internal and external auditing processes
  • Communicate with customers and suppliers on quality-related issues, including quality audits, and warranty returns to assure highest levels of customer satisfaction
  • Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, regulatory compliance, and competency

Education & Experience

  • Professional Certification: Qualification as Auditor is desirable
  • Experience: Minimum ten years experience in quality management
  • Experience with Advanced Quality Management and knowledge of various quality systems, such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485, TS 16949, TL-9000, AS9100, MBNQA, and others.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and ability to comprehend (including technical concepts) and communicate at a high level with Senior Managers, customers, distributors, and principals at different purchasing and engineering levels
  • Ability to deal effectively with differences of opinion, to influence, to draw ideas from others, and to negotiate and mediate in all cultures
  • Ability to anticipate and handle multiple priorities and complex/abstract issues involving external and internal priorities
  • Ability to excel in a cross-organizational, cross-cultural, global team environment
  • Handle special assignments promptly and professionally
  • Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate people in different cultures and nations

  • Due to ITAR compliance, this position requires candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident Alien, or Protected Individual per 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Safety Requirements

Quality and Environmental Responsibilities

Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
