Primary Duties & Responsibilities



This job requires that an individual come into contact with raw materials, products, equipment / machines, software or technology controlled by the Export Administration Regulations or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations. The job must be filled by a U.S. Person, or a person for whom a valid export control license, or exception, has been obtained or is not required from the U.S.Government.

Product Development of new TE modules/systems is done on schedule and on budget.


  • Product-related technology development projects which support Marlow's strategic technical objectives are supported.
  • New Class 2, 3, and 0 products and processes are created, developed, and documented supporting customer requirements and Marlow's strategic technical and sales objectives.
  • Assigned tasks on Project teams are completed on-time.
  • Internal modeling/design capabilities are diligently learned allowing accurate analyses to be performed.
  • The Phase Gate process is learned, understood, effectively utilized to transition new products and processes to the engineering and manufacturing organizations.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing design guidelines are learned, understood, and implemented and improvements are proposed.
  • Participation in special problem solving sessions addressing complex problems provides value to the team and actions are completed accurately and timely.


  • Externally and internally funded research and/or development programs consistent with the company technical direction are supported through successful completion of identified tasks.
  • Participates with the external customer interface positively portraying MI and II-VI Inc.
  • Provides design support for new product design.
  • A high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and quality are learned.
  • Output meets the requirements of the Marlow quality system
  • Role model for Quality, Customer Satisfaction, Employee Satisfaction and Business Results.
  • SMART objectives are achieved on time and within budget.
  • Safety and environmental standards are applied to all process, engineering and development work.

Education & Experience

2-4 years Engineering experience.

  • Working knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanical, materials, and mechanics of solids theoretical and practical principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate.
  • Proficient computer skills, experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Email, internet access, and virtual meeting applications.

  • Ability to work under direct supervision operating from broad concepts and transform these concepts into concrete program action items/plans.
  • Ability to maintain productivity, accountability and effective communication in a remote work environment.
  • Ability to solve problems in a timely and quality manner.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willing to travel domestically.
  • Ability to manage time and handle multiple priorities.
