The Need

IJM is hiring a Director of Strategic Partnerships and Developments.  This person will develop and execute groundbreaking strategies to find, engage, and convert prospective donors into active major donors.  This individual will manage a dynamic portfolio of potential major donors with a focus on converting leads into major donors, allowing IJM to secure the full market potential for US revenue. This individual will develop and execute a highly personalized new donor cultivation strategy, designed to elevate donor engagement and revenue. By partnering closely with the Strategic Partnerships, Partnership Engagement and Partner Program teams, this person will build symbiotic relationships that fosters the seamless flow of “relationship qualified” major donors into Strategic Partnership caseloads as these donors give their first major gifts to IJM.

The position may be based in the Washington DC area or may be based remotely and reports to the National Director – Strategic Partnerships.

Responsibilities

Networking & Partnership


  • Qualify leads and cultivate relationships with potential major donors and convert to active major donors by securing the first major gift.

  • Collaborate with the shared services team in planning and implementing events that result in new potential donors engaging in relationship with IJM.

  • Work closely with Strategic Partnership Directors to educate and cultivate potential donors.

  • Superior feedback from donors and constituents.

  • Generation of high-quality leads and opportunities for Directors of Strategic Partnerships.

  • Agile and effective cross-functional execution with the broader Strategic Partnership team.

  • Work with Partnerships Team and Directors of Strategic Partnerships to identify, engage, and optimize relationships with organizations where IJM can deliver value to prospective donors.

Strategy & Knowledge Development & Implementation


  • Develop, implement and evaluate strategies to significantly broaden the base of major donors feeding each Strategic Partnerships portfolio.

  • In partnership with leadership, develop and execute a region-wide strategy for a deeper and more holistic acquisition strategies of high-value donors.

  • Develop and execute industry-leading new donor development strategies.

  • Leverage gathered contact information to identify new donors and build relationships leading to financial contributions.

Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 15+ years of proven experience delivering results in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.

  • 10+ years of high-end sales or net new major donor fundraising experience.

  • Demonstrated experience working closely with high net-worth people.

  • A proven track record of generating more than $1MM annually in new revenue.

  • Effectiveness as influencer and collaborator on cross-functional teams.

  • Compelling public speaking and presentation that moves people to action.

  • Experience speaking to high net-worth potential clients and donors effectively, intelligently, and passionately.

  • Extensive experience with new business development, donor acquisition and cultivation.

  • Salesforce experience a plus. 

  • Proven ability to effectively develop, nurture and maintain individual relationships and the skill to lead those individuals to make joyful financial investments.
