Position Description:
EDAX is a leading provider of innovative materials characterization systems encompassing Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD), Wavelength Dispersive Spectrometry (WDS), and Micro X-ray Fluorescence (Micro-XRF). EDAX products include stand alone tools, integrated tools for EDS-EBSD, EDS-WDS, and EDS-EBSD-WDS, and a free-standing Micro-XRF bench-top elemental analyzer providing small and micro-spot X-ray analysis and mapping.

The Field Service Technician has to perform both complex and basic on-site customer support activities involving the installation, service, repair, hardware integration, hardware and software upgrades, support, troubleshooting, and training on products at customer sites in a timely and cost effective manner.

Instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the systems and serve as company expert with customers on administrative and technical matters.

Always conduct business in a professional manner building customer relationships.

Main Duties / Responsibilities:
• Installation and maintenance of EDAX products.
• Interacts with end users to determine software and hardware needs in an effort to provide support in a timely manner.
• Undertaking customer complaints in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources.
• Cooperation with sales/service/application team from various sites to satisfy internal/external customer requirements.
• Performs technical and application work in EDAX microanalysis to ensure functioning of all systems.
• Identifies problems and recommends solutions. (and also feedback to EDAX Mahwah)
• Remote support, troubleshooting and fault finding.
• Evaluations and qualification to satisfy the requirements from Electron Microscope Manufactures.
• Demonstration /pre-sale testing and create report for prospect customers.
• Network setting and migration on the customer’s LAN.
• Provide flexible work hours to meet the demand of customers.

Position Requirements:
Requirements:
• AS degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
• 5 to 7 years experience in Field Service of analytical instrumentation or equivalent.
• A quick learner, easy going, organized self-motivated, inquisitive, problem-solver with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong customer service orientation
• A team player with an aptitude to use initiative whilst complying with standards & procedures
• Strong knowledge and interest in Physics, Science and Electronics.
• Good understanding on analytical instruments and material science.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and the Networking settings.
• Strong working experience with scientific instruments
• This position requires extensive travel both air and car.
• Based in Chicago Area close to major airport.
