We are seeking a full-time CMF Engineer 2 at our world headquarters in the Kansas City area. In this role, you will collaborate with designers, engineers, and suppliers to forecast, develop, and implement color, material, and finish plans to drive innovation into Garmin Products. Other essential functions include:
Manage a sustainable CMF innovation portfolio
Integration and validation of new CMF technologies
Applies Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibit a desire to see Garmin succeed
Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science, Product Design, Chemical Engineering, or another field relevant to the essential functions of this job description from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. A curiosity for new CMF innovation, technology, process, design and future living. Proficiency in the latest materials, finishes and various manufacturing processes as it relates to consumer products.
Open to pushing new boundaries, work extremely well in multi-disciplinary global teams, able to speak up, anticipate technical challenges and plan ahead.
Looks beyond the immediate problem and generates new and innovative solutions to complex problems.
Being a strong communicator, sharing technical knowledge with non-technical partners in a clear and meaningful way (also challenges and constraints).
Strong project management skills to drive new technology programs to deliver qualified solutions from concept to manufacturing.
Demonstrates proficient knowledge of a wide variety of materials and manufacturing methods including, but not limited to: plastic, silicone, metals, coatings, and more.
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrates proficient presentation skills
Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work respectfully with others
Demonstrated ability to autonomously generate and support pragmatic solutions that meet project timelines and high quality standards
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge
Must demonstrate knowledge, education, experience and/or training necessary to use tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote
