Associate Director of Supply Chain



Position Summary:


The Associate Director (AD) of Supply Chain at Wilmington manages all Materials Receiving / Shipping Processes, Inventory Control and Optimization Projects, other Supply Chain projects, and Supplier /Vendor Performance. S/he is also a key contributor to the Materials Review Board.


The AD of SC responsible for the overall performance of selected critical Wilmington /Alkermes vendors for Quality, Cost, and vendor delivery performance.This individual will be the primary Wilmington contact to manage the vendor relationship and will subsequently organize internal WIL/Alkermes teams to address issues by product and/or technology category (Screens, Filters, Excipients, etc.).


S/he will lead Biannual Business Reviews (BBRs) and support vendor audits with External QA and Manufacturing personnel and recommend sourcing changes or recommendations to the Wilmington Strategic Procurement Manager and Supply Chain Director. Travel to various vendors is expected on a regular basis (at least quarterly). If requested, this person will support the Wilmington Supply Chain Director in addressing API sourcing and performance issues.


S/he will attend 1440 daily meetings as required. S/he will lead kaizen/improvement projects and CAPA development to address material deviations and SNCs as needed. This person will develop applicable KPI scorecards to track and improve performance.


Occasionally, the AD will act as the back-up to the Director of Supply Chain for MRB leadership and Site monthly Project and AIM KPI sessions. Therefore, the AD of SC must have a thorough grasp of the "end-to-end" status of key site priorities, to include detailed knowledge of the Sterile and Oral Solid Dose (OSD) operational performance and key issues that restrict throughput attainment.


The AD of SC is a key resource for the Operational Excellence (OpEx) program at Wilmington. He/she plays a critical role in training, development, and utilization of OpEx tools to drive efficiency and cost savings in COGs at the site.



Major Responsibilities:



  • Management of Materials Receiving, Shipping, Inventory control, and approves functional actions for Change Controls, Validation protocols, and material optimization for miscellaneous projects.

  • Management of performance for selected critical Wilmington /Alkermes vendors for Quality, Cost, and vendor delivery performance. Primary Wilmington contact to manage the vendor relationship. Organize internal WIL/Alkermes teams by product and/or technology category (Screens, Filters, Excipients, etc.) to address issues.

  • Management and leadership of various Supply Chain/ Materials projects. Planview owner for Supply Chain

  • Support site strategy development and yearly project prioritization. Participate and lead site results reviews and OPeX development of direct reports

  • Participate on site leadership teams (MRB) and personal development training.

  • Leadership of Supply Chain organizations to deliver critical business and functional needs while developing key direct reports.

  • Adaptable to various competing demands. Demonstrates a high level of flexibility and agility to respond in a timely manner.

  • Proven interpersonal skills with experience providing leadership direction for various problems and Strong leadership skills including team facilitation, training, and motivation.

  • Strong influencing skills

  • Strong knowledge of sourcing analysis

  • Experience with SAP recommended



Required Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree with 10-15 years of pharmaceutical or technical product experience. Master's Degree in business or a technical field preferred but not required.

  • Leadership of mid-to-large supply chain organizations and Operational Excellence experience.

  • Demonstrated experience to hire, develop, and lead Supply Chain functional teams.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), effective and efficient meeting management, Web-ex and other remote meeting programs and software.

  • SAP or equivalent ERP system user level knowledge

  • Ability to Travel
