Shipping & Material Supervisor at dormakaba USA, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona

Job Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

dormakaba is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor to join the Phoenix, AZ Operations department. This position will be responsible for supervising and leading 10~ employees assigned to the Shipping and Receiving department.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Monitors and oversees both outgoing and incoming shipping activities to make sure that everything that is received or shipped out is in perfect condition


• Posts weight and shipping charges as applies to each item to be shipped out


• Compiles a list of unfulfilled orders for future reference


• Directs the movement of shipments from shipping points to storage and/or work areas


• Inspects loading operations to make sure that they comply with shipping specifications


• Decides the load limit of each truck used in the loading and delivery process


• Reads shipping notices, invoices, orders, and other documents to determine priorities and shipping methods that are needed to meet schedules


• Notifies maintenance unit or contact external service providers in the case of defects on materials for repairs


• Manages financial transactions related to shipping services


• Carries out regular inventory reconciliation of supplied materials


• Prepares incorrect items report to vendors through the appropriate medium


• Mediates between shipping units and vendors in the case of discrepancies in shipments, and reconcile with the appropriate bodies


• Identifies opportunities for enhancement and suggest ways of improvement to top management of the organization


• Ensures the availability of stock to reduce shortages


• Participates in hiring and training of new personnel for the company's shipping unit


• Supports the simplification and standardization of processes in a bid to enhance effectiveness

CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS:

• Understanding of manufacturing flow, with a focus on Shipping & Receiving


• Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate across multiple levels of management, departments, and customers


• Ability to understand, collaborate, and execute corporate led initiatives such as performance reviews


• Effective analytical and conceptual skills


• Ability to use wide range of measurement instruments measuring tape, calipers, etc.


• Manual dexterity and mobility sufficient to use hand tools extensively, safely and productively such as wrenches, hammers, small grinders, welding stingers and similar fabrication shop equipment


• Sufficient mobility to allow the employee to work in restricted or out of normal positions


• Ability to maneuver on the shop floor and outdoors


• Ability to lift 50 lbs. repetitively during a shift


• Ability to drive a forklift and utilize a pallet jack


• Ability to use hand tools such as a hammer and staple gun


• Ability to exhibit strategic planning and use problem solving methods


• Ability to lead people to daily/weekly, and long-term success


• Ability to delegate, organize, prioritize, and demonstrate leadership & initiative to promote employee engagement

REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Degree/GED or equivalent required, Associates/Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Operations preferred


• 2-3 years supervisory experience in shipping/receiving in a manufacturing setting
