McBee, South Carolina, is home to A. O. Primary Function
We are looking for aMaterials Managerthat will be responsibleforall aspects of the materials department's 60+ employee operations, such as material procurement, production scheduling, and inventory control to guarantee operations. Reduction in lead times and order-to-ship times are two of the major initiatives thisrole will lead.
The Materials Manager also leads MRP activities such as forecasts and customer orders analyses; directs the activities of the team members and their development plans; and participates in the elaboration of policies and procedures related to materials, warehouses, deliveries, cycle counting, distribution and production planning.
Responsibilities
Leads production plan activities.
Planning, master scheduling, shipping, distribution and purchasing
Procuring all necessary components for the assembly schedule through Kanban and supplier releases as well as maintaining an accurate inventory of component parts
Analyzes customer orders and forecasts.
Procure material to complete operations.
Develops, implements and follows up the planning of activities to comply with on time customers' orders.
Leads warehouse distribution and transportation activities.
Empowers team members to perform MRO and MRP purchasing and expediting activities.
Leads the materials team towards the accomplishment of strategies and metrics.
Coaches and develops team members for an outstanding contribution.
Promotes Company's Mission, Vision, Strategies and Guiding Principles.
Considers best price, quality, availability and reliability when purchasing products.
Ensures materials and parts in the supply chain meet minimum requirements for quality assurance standards.
Leads materials and parts tests.
Develops policies and procedures in the areas of procurement, inventory control, receiving, storage and distribution of supplies.
Interfaces directly with all departments in the plant with regards to materials that have been requested to determine specifications and needs.
Maintains adequate supply levels throughout the plants and distribution center to maintain inventories to the lowest levels.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or similar field
8+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing/assembly plant environment
Experience in materials management position, which includes expertise in Supply Chain Management, Material Sourcing, Logistics Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting
Lean Manufacturing experience, including Kanban
Planning, master scheduling, shipping, distribution and purchasing
Purchasing parts scheduling and ordering, on-time material delivery and inventory control
Supervision of 4 reports who monitor the schedule, supply the line and expedite when necessary
Procuring all necessary components for the assembly schedule through Kanban and supplier releases as well as maintaining an accurate inventory of component parts
Additional Qualifications
APICS Certification
Recent experience with SAP as well as previous experience with ASI/AS400
Bilingual English-Spanish a plus
