As a Direct Support Professionals (also known as Resident Assistant, Home Health Aide, CNA), you will work in a residential group home setting (known as CLA) for adults with developmental disabilities. A Residential Assistant is responsible for personal care, medication administration, behavioral support, and transportation of 3-4 individuals living in a group home setting. Direct Support Professionals will have the opportunity to:
- Support and empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to build skills and reach personalized goals.
- Actively protect and uphold the human rights of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Facilitate relationship building between individuals and community through activities based on individuals interests and hobbies
- Actively search for new opportunities and interests to introduce to individuals to experience life in their homes and communities.
- Assist individuals in development of appropriate life skills in a way that promotes independence and autonomy.
No experience necessary, we provide paid training and team support!
Qualifications:
- Minimum High School Diploma/ G.E.D
- Acceptable criminal background
- Valid Driver's License with 2 yrs. experience, and less than 3 moving violations (NO Major Violations, D.U.I's, Suspensions) in the previous 36 months
- Ability to pass pre-employment Drug Screen/ Physical/ Mantoux Test (PPD, TB)
Direct Support Professional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct Support Professionals are responsible for but not excluded to the following duties:
- Providing personal Care to individuals as needed (to include assistance with toileting, bathing, clothing, feeding, transfers, etc.).
- Behavioral Support (to include working with potential physical and verbal outbursts/ aggressiveness).
- Medication Administration (must be able to pass Medication Administration training).
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. as needed.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, traverse, kneel, bend from the waist, etc., as needed.
- Must be able to communicate verbally, visually, and audibly.
