Position Description:
The Product Development Specialist - Candidate will report to the VP of Engineering and will directly contribute to the development of new products as well as sustaining needs of current products. Efforts will be very focused on developing specifications from internal market experts and external customers (VoC) and assist with converting those specifications to technical specifications. Will work closely with the engineers across the development of the product and be heavily involved in the development of application test plans (as well as performing the testing when needed). The successful candidate will be involved from the beginning to the end of projects to create new products within the gamma and alpha spectroscopy system markets.

• Provide expert level direction of gamma and alpha spectroscopy systems development
• Interact with internal and external market peers
• Develop detailed specifications for new products (both hardware and software)
• Interact with key engineering resources to ensure concepts are clearly understood
• Assist the commercialization team to develop application test plans
• Assist the commercialization team to test new products utilizing a fully documented plan
• Attend, present and/or participate in conferences, seminars, technical symposiums, tradeshows, etc related to gamma and alpha spectroscopy products

Position Requirements:
• Master’s degree in a Nuclear field (PhD preferred), and/or relevant Engineering discipline
• Minimum of five years of related experience
• Extensive familiarity with ORTEC and competitors high-resolution gamma-ray and alpha spectroscopy software and systems
• Must be able to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously
• Superior organizational skills and attention to details
• Work requires effective oral and written communications skills as well as a strong systematic and technical acumen
• Demonstrated ability to plan and organize assignments so that schedules are met
• Field experience in commercial or government counting laboratory environment preferred
• Knowledge of governing regulations for nuclear power plants and government-operated nuclear facilities desired
