Summary

This position is responsible for the proper, productive and safe fitting and joining of various components/parts together with select welding processes and procedures.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.
  • Welding (MIG) metal core and solid wire.
  • Ability to read blue prints.
  • Lay out, position, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly/tacking and/or welding using prescribed fixtures and proper work procedures.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Monitor welding processes to avoid overheating parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify the Foreman or management.
  • Determine required equipment and welding methods via established work procedures and apply proper welding techniques.
  • Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.


SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred Associate's Degree (two year college or technical school): or Work Equivalent
  • Experience: One to two years related experience preferred, but not required.
