POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. General support of Before and After School Enrichment (BASE), Summer Day Camp, Fun & Snow Day programs. This position works directly with children and parents to ensure all programs meet and exceed expectations. This position is responsible for all aspects of care, education, and safety of the children in their classroom. The position will incorporate caring, honesty, faith, respect and responsibility into all aspects of the program.
JOB DESCRIPTION
In the Early Care and Education programs we have both Assistant and Lead Teachers. Both of these positions play key roles in the success of our programs. Which role you qualify for is determined by your experience and education; this will be reviewed with you during your interview process. A summary of shared responsibilities is listed below. Complete position descriptions and responsibilities will be shared with you as you progress through the interview process.
YMCA Early Care and Education programs at most locations work with kids ranging from infant to 5 yrs old.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Set the climate for children, staff and volunteers in the classrooms
Direct all activities including meals, snacks and nap time
Maintain a safe & clean environment at all times
Guide the children's behavior & learning through active interaction and implementation of the lesson plans
Maintain accurate records for licensing, USDA & other funding agencies
Implementation Assessment Tools
Attend to toileting needs, change diapers and feed children who are unable to feed themselves
Maintain the classroom to meet all ODJFS and Step Up to Quality requirements
Appreciate the diversity of families and how to effectively & appropriately share with them information about their child
Make daily observations of health of children and take appropriate action
Attend staff meetings, workshops and conferences as requested or required
Must complete required licensing trainings and Step Up trainings within the first 30 days of employment and 20 hours or more of Step Up trainings every 2 years
Take the initiative to do what needs to be done
Know and follow all state and center emergency policies and procedures
Maintain a professional demeanor
