CPP-Syracuse is a manufacturer of premium investment castings for the Air Craft and Industrial Gas Turbine industry and has been in business for over 70 years. We have over 275 employees currently working in our Chittenango, NY facility

Consolidated Precision Products (CPP) in Syracuse has an immediate opening for a 2nd shift Welder to join our team. This position will report to the Finishing Manufacturing Manager. The Welder will weld, finish and rebuild castings with welding equipment as specified by layout, welding diagram, or work order.

Essential Job Functions/Duties

• Ability to weld by method of GTAW for rework, repair and cosmetic upgrade in accordance with customer specifications and internal procedures.
• Evaluate castings to ensure preparation from prior operation is adequate.
• Assess the condition of the castings to determine weld technique.
• Perform additional weld preparation with the use of die and belt grinders.
• Operate and maintain welding machines and equipment.
• Ability to document weld locations and dimensions.
• Identify and implement improvement opportunities through the use of lean tools such as Systematic Problem Solving, Process Management, Value Stream Mapping, etc.
• Finish castings with power tools. Use welding equipment, machinery and tools. Make mechanical repairs on machinery and troubleshoot minor electrical equipment throughout the plant.
• Responsible for adherence to all safety policies, practices and procedures.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or 1 year of welding experience.
• Experience: Six months to one year welding experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certifications/Licenses: None
• Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Tig welding skills beneficial. Basic math skills. Ability to read, understand and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Good verbal communication. Mechanically inclined. Safety conscious. Team oriented. Patient. Detail oriented.
