Biomanufacturing Operator I - RG at ALDEVRON, LLC in Fargo, North Dakota

Job Description:

The RG Biomanufacturing Operator I will work daily within Aldevron’s labs performing tasks associated with Aldevron’s Research Grade (RG) services. The RG Biomanufacturing Operator I is expected to become familiar with all of Aldevron’s products and to be able to perform most tasks associated with the purification of plasmid DNA.

Responsibilities


  • Perform various manufacturing tasks in accordance with Aldevron Standard Operating Procedures

  • Review daily work instructions and organize individual daily workflows

  • Document production activities in the Aldevron Internal Database

  • Complete work independently under daily written direction from the Production supervisor(s)

  • Complete training plan developed by the Production Supervisor and maintain personal training file

  • Coordinate production events with buffer preparation operators

  • Execute RG projects with either upstream or downstream tasks and all special considerations associated.

    • Upstream tasks including: Transformation, subculture, cell banking, shake flask growth, fermentation, and cell harvest

    • Downstream tasks including: Project Set up, Lysis, Anion Exchange Chromatography, Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (void and enrichment), Thiophilic Absorption Chromatography, Diafiltration, and small scale processing



  • Sample submission to Quality Control

  • Perform various QC assays in accordance with standard operating procedure for interim testing of manufactured product

  • Perform final adjustment and formulation, dispensing, and labelling of manufactured products

  • Communicate the status of operations, production issues, and safety and maintenance issues to appropriate area management

  • Complete quality metrics tracking

Required Skills


  • Previous lab experience preferred

  • Knowledge of molecular biology and/or microbiology preferred

  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and time management skills

  • Knowledge of good documentation practices 

  • Must have strong computer and software skills

  • Knowledge of and adhere to good safety practices

  • Ability to follow written directions

  • Ability to clearly communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to work independently with infrequent direct supervision

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Must-Haves


  • A.S. in biology, chemistry, or molecular biology preferred

  • High School Diploma required

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

This position works in a Research Grade lab setting and may come in contact with various solutions and chemicals and will be responsible for activities related to biological processes such as bacterial growth. This position uses standard laboratory equipment such as pipettes, centrifuges, glassware, shake flasks, fermenters, fume hoods, and computers.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 pounds, and use arms, hands and fingers for various activities. This position may stand or remain sedentary for long periods of time. This position routinely works with large pieces of equipment.
