What You’ll Get to Do!

The Transportation Coordinator (TC) works in conjunction with the Command Center to coordinate the sate transport/escort of unaccompanied minors (UACS) and family units (FAMUs). The TC will maintain close communication with Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)/Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Agents to assess/determine approximate time frames when custody of UACs and FAMUs will be transferred to MVM.  The TC also works closely with BP & ICE Agents to determine the approximate number of UACs and FAMUs required to transport pursuant to BP & ICE in-processing. The TC sends the preliminary number of minors ready to be transported to the command center, including their age, gender and any special needs so the command center can correctly identify the number and gender of Transportation Specialists needed.  The TC will maintain and assign clothing, shoes, and any other inventory maintained at the BP/Ursula Center using MVM’s inventory system.

Key functions you will perform!


  • Coordinates with the pod (holding area) officers so that UAC/family members are groomed, dressed and medically cleared in time to travel.

  • Performs visual verification of UAC/family members and matches them to the government issued number, photo(s) in the file and emails to confirm identity of traveling UAC/family members. 

  • Immediately communicates any identified special needs to the Command Center and Logistics and requests appropriate travel accommodations and staffing adjustments.

  • Assembles Enforcement Removal Operations (ERO) packets per UAC/family member.

  • Informs command center of any cancellations by BP due to children not ready for travel.

  • Provides UACs and/or family members with orientation, answers questions, and describes the transportation process.  

  • Communicates to Logistics any requirements for meals, car seats, baby formula, diapers and other supplies to restock lockers in and maintain inventory.

  • Ensures up-to-date travel procedures and processes are distributed in a timely manner to all employees.

  • Works with border patrol to ensure that UAC/Family members have their property.

  • Answers questions Border Patrol may have regarding shelters.

  • Verify A-files with placement emails to ensure UAC/family are going to the correct shelter.

What you will need to have:


  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. 2 years of experience in a field related to law, social work, detention, corrections, or similar occupational area.

  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Possess a valid and current driver’s License.

Clearance:

  • Applicants selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Security Requirements:


  • U.S. Citizenship

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Security Clearance

  • Favorable credit check
