Position Title: Value Stream Leader, Distribution

Department: Distribution

Supervisor: Manager, OE-Distribution

Job Description

This person is responsible for leading operations strategy within the Distribution production departments. Must be capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and department leaders to address concerns and issues that affect safety, part quality, production efficiency, continuous improvement, etc. The Value Stream Leader will also have exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and management skills, demonstrating the ability to be an innovator and change agent.

Essential Duties:

  • Leads the activities of the Value Stream within the BDC business of Huntington, IN facility.
  • Provides leadership for production areas and the team members.
  • Drives operations to ensure safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and budget goals are achieved.
  • Establishes strong and effective working relationships that are conducive to maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Partners with departmental leaders: HSE, Quality, Engineering, Materials and Human Resources to achieve or exceed Value Stream goals.
  • Drives accountability through the use of tools and other methods to track performance.
  • Evaluates departmental constraints and implements Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve capacities.
  • Works closely with the Plant and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering to define cost-effective continuous improvement projects.
  • Drive Fair and consistent application of policies across employee base.
  • Promotes and drives the organizations vision and utilization of Knorr Production System (Lean Manufacturing) methodologies.
  • Champions change and facilitate team related functions to improve the business performance.
  • Uses problem solving methods and innovation to drive continuous improvement.
  • Works closely with team members across departments to establish priorities ensuring on-time shipments to customers, meeting quality expectations, and other activities as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with the plant policies and procedures including requirements for TS16949 and ISO14001.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Required Skills

  • Strong problem solving skills required
  • Strong written and oral communications skills are required
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities is required
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on standardized work, continuous improvement, 5S, and JIT principles is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Statistical evaluation software familiarity a plus.
  • SAP Experience is a plus.
  • Greenbelt Certification is preferred.

Required Experience

  • Requires at least 5+ years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Requires at least two years of manufacturing operations experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience in motivating and leading people. Driving a positive work environment is required
  • Requires a Bachelor degree in related discipline
  • Greenbelt Certification preferred.
  • 10+ Years of related experience
