Summary

Our Battle Ground facility is looking for a Shipping and Receiving clerk to work 1st shift in our Shipping Department. This position requires the handling of lumber, glass, and various other products related to the glass industry. As a Box Builder, you will cut lumber and assemble cut lumber into boxes and crates, using hand tools or power tools. The process involves measuring, marking, and sawing boards to specified size using a ruler, pencil, and power saws. The builder then assembles and nails boards together, using a hammer, power stapler, or pneumatic gun. You may need to salvage used crating by removing nails from boards with a hammer, nail puller, or crowbar and by sawing ends with portable electric handsaw. You are also responsible for sealing and loading packages/crates which involves labeling and marking containers, weighing, measuring, counting products and materials, examining and inspecting materials; and transporting packages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Building boxes, crates, or containers according to shipping needs, orders, or supervisors’ specifications ensuring that the crates/boxes are accurately built


2. You will prepare the boxes by putting lining or padding material to protect items during shipment


3. You must pack items according to shipping needs, orders or supervisors’ specifications ensuring that the crates/boxes and packages are accurately packed


4. Work without constant supervision and work quickly


5. Completing clerical tasks with the ability to use shop floor computer


6. Inspect and examine products to make sure they meet our specifications for quality and aren’t damaged


7. On/off-loading of glass from, tables, rolling racks, delivery trucks, or wood crates for eight or more hours daily


8. Our manufacturing facility is subject to the same general climate conditions of the region (heat, cold, humidity, etc.)


9. You will also be responsible for cleaning the shipping area and ensuring all safety procedures are followed


10. Regular and predictable attendance, the ability to safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job

Requirements

1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent


2. Flexible availability including the ability to switch starting times and/or overtime and weekends when necessary

Preferences

1. Minimum of 1-year experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.


2. Ability to read and use a tape measure


3. Understand units of measurement and be able to perform general mathematical equations


4. Previous experience using power tools and handheld tools


5. Read, understand and communicate paperwork and labels


6. Basic computer skills and knowledge
