Responsibilities

New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine, located on Long Island, is requesting applications for a Research Assistant/Associate position in the Department of Biomedical Sciences that is supported by an NIH grant . Applicants must have earned a B.S. or M.S. in physiology or molecular/cellular biology, and have relevant work experience.

Specific Responsibilities:

    Assist principal investigator in execution of experiments, data collection and analysis, and maintain experimental records.
  • Isolate and maintain cultured cells, conduct cell-based assays, RNA isolation, PCR, plasmid construction, ELISA, immunoblot analysis, immunohistochemistry, histology and image capture using advanced microscopic approaches.

  • Manage and work with laboratory animal models.

  • Work collaboratively with students and other PIs on the research team.

  • Maintain basic laboratories reagents, and equipment and replace or request purchase as necessary.

Qualifications


  • B.S. or M.S. with biomedical research experience.

  • Must have one year of post bacc work experience.

  • Expertise in molecular or cell biogy is preferred.

  • Experience in microscopy and in cell culture and molecular biology techniques.

  • Must have excellent organizational abilities with basic computer skills and have excellent communication skills.
