We are looking for a talented Technical Director (Engineering) to join our team specializing in transmission engineering for our Eaton Cummins Automated Transmission Technologies in Galesburg, MI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:


  • Lead Managers of mechanical teams for New Product development programs and current product technical support.

  • Direct proactive risk assessment and risk mitigation throughout the New Product Development programs

  • Build, develop and coach global technical teams

  • Direct optimization and efficient distribution of global work

  • Set direction for lean, DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) and analysis led design efforts globally

  • Lead ECJV Intellectual Property patent and governance process

  • Advise functional excellence teams that optimizes work processes and tools such as change management, bill of material management, design standards, ESW (Engineering Standard Work), etc.

  • Assist with global product strategy

To be successful in this role you will need the following:


  • Proven leadership as a Technical Advisor or Technical/Engineering Senior Leader working in a product, technology or engineering service area with a successful track record of developing technical talent and enabling high performing teams that deliver on project expectations through a range of varying business scenarios and/or life-cycles.

  • Concept to Production launch experience for large development programs for new powertrain systems

  • Strong technical and commercial balance to understand and optimize stakeholder needs such as capital, cost, time to market, customer needs

  • Commercial vehicle powertrain systems knowledge required

  • Global engineering design experience working across regions

  • Transmission mechanical system knowledge including enclosures, gears, bearings, lube systems, chassis interfaces required

Education/Experience


  • College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.

  • Advanced degree preferred
