POSITION PURPOSE


This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor with dotted line responsibilities to the Value Stream Supervisors.


The scope of this position involves the following:




  1. Perform all mechanical reliability activities necessary to maintain and improve the operating condition of all equipment and processes within the plant.

  2. Support the Value Streams with necessary resources and expertise to ensure reliable and efficient operations.

  3. Support the Value Streams by providing technical expertise and assistance in training value stream members to perform changeover, setup and troubleshooting activities along with basic maintenance and repairs.

  4. Provide additional resources and support for mechanical break downs which require more resources than are available within the Value Stream.

  5. Perform condition monitoring, evaluations, and documentation on equipment as assigned.

  6. Leverage troubleshooting skills and resolve product quality problems related to equipment, process, or raw material issues.

  7. Perform maintenance and operations resource to the value streams in the event that key value stream personnel are absent.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES


This position is responsible to:



  • Carry out maintenance and reliability improvement duties on production and associated equipment.

  • Participate in training and evaluation of demonstrated technical skills for technical value stream positions.

  • Hold an A, B, or C-Mechanic Job Position or have equivalent experience in a similar industry.

  • Provide technical leadership and equipment operations support in the absence of key value stream personnel.

  • Provide break down support and technical expertise to value streams on all shifts.

    1. Ensure that the Company safety and OSHA procedures are followed at all times.

    2. Be able to use the appropriate analytical tools and measuring techniques to pin point problems, setup and repair machines for the proper operation of equipment.

    3. Maintain equipment on the line that requires higher skilled knowledge (PLC interface, complex setup, and pre-certification of down equipment for startup on the next shift).

    4. Train Technicians in machine maintenance skills and techniques required to maintain, inspect and setup machines for production operation when required by the Maintenance Supervisor.

    5. Assess technician's skills for additional training when required.

    6. Lead problem solving and technical resolution during significant down time events or other times in a proactive manner.

    7. Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings to resolve line/equipment issues.

    8. Understand and use the MP2 Preventive Maintenance System and understand its various functions with respect to the maintenance support process.

    9. Utilize the work order system efficiently for scheduling and timely completion of outstanding work.

    10. Work effectively and communicate well with shift Production and Maintenance Supervision.

    11. Provide a brief shift report to the Maintenance Supervisor / Manager of daily work activities.

    12. Work necessary amounts of overtime for shift hand-offs or break down support.

    13. Be aware and able to use additional sources of technical support within the company, assisting with production line operation; i.e., maintenance and training manuals, etc.

    14. Be flexible on the schedule to cover and support business needs requiring off-shift work.

    15. Assist with developing and improving P.M. procedures on production line equipment and JSHA assessments for P.M. procedures as directed.

    16. Be available for an emergency call-in to work and additional shifts due to sickness or absence of another Technician.

    17. Be prepared to be scheduled in early or held over to complete work necessary to support operations and their production schedule.

    18. Be prepared to undertake additional training, as the company may deem necessary.

    19. All other duties as assigned.




QUALIFICATIONS



Include minimum qualifications for formal training, education, certifications, licensures, and/or working experience. Identify the level of knowledge; skills, and/or abilities (KSAs) required to perform the essential job responsibilities and duties competently.























EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:



High School Diploma or equivalent.



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:



* Be able to replace bearings in an electric motor and overhaul a pump.


* A working knowledge of the requirements of OSHA with respect to machine guarding and interlocking.


* A practical working knowledge of wear associated with flat /vee belts, bearings, sprockets, gears pulleys, shafts, universal joints, gearboxes, clutches, cams, idlers, chains, tensioners, air cylinders, and air actuated valves.


* Knowledge of flow wrapping machinery either vertical form fill or horizontal is preferred.




EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



* Be able to use a range of electrical and mechanical measuring devices.


* Experience in a Consumer Products environment preferred.




SKILLS/ABILITIES:



* Handles conflicts in professional manner


* Willing to work overtime and weekends as required


* Willing to train on CGMP requirements and company policies and procedures
