Summary:

The Chief Engineer is the strategic leader to direct the PACCAR Winch Engineering group. Working with their team, he/she is responsible for the entire engineering department, from approving project designs and assigning engineers and technicians to ensuring that all safety and structural standards are met throughout the completion of each project. Must rely on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals while performing a variety of tasks. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the position will report to the President of PACCAR WINCH Inc.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:


  • Directs a team of designers and technicians to develop safe, efficient, and effective products.

  • Makes sure all projects and undertakings stay on budget and within the projected time schedules.

  • Oversees policies, procedures, protocols and controls that govern engineering and product operations.

  • Develops and manages the departmental budget, in alignment with company's goals and objectives.

  • Allocates resources effectively including personnel, materials, and time.

  • Drafts reports and data analysis for review by internal departments or external agencies or customers.

  • Provides support to operations, sales, and field service departments to address design issues and develop new product to meet customer needs.

  • Recruits and continuously develops personnel to retain a high performing Engineering Team.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

  • Possess seven (7) to ten (10) years of Engineering management experience

  • Must have demonstrated success in developing products and people, establishing ethical working relationships and satisfying customer demands.

  • Must possess exceptional organizational and time management skills with an attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

  • Proficient with software applications including Microsoft Office Suite products

  • Must be able to travel up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications:


  • MBA or Advanced Engineering Degree is desired

  • Prior experience working with industrial equipment or durable goods

  • Knowledge of hydraulics or gearboxes is a plus

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
