ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Attitude & Behavior:

  • Adheres to established policies for the practice, state nursing standards, and state and federal regulatory standards/guidelines,



  • Performs a complete physical exam and obtains a complete medical history,



  • Provides timely and accurate dictation on patients seen in the office.



  • Orders appropriate laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures,



  • Interprets and integrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plans,



  • Administers medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines.




  • Job Knowledge/Technical Skills:



  • Instructs patient/family appropriately regarding medications and treatments,



  • Educates patients regarding health and illness prevention,



  • Provides information regarding community resources to meet patient and family needs,





    • Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients,

    • Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits

    • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information,

    • Posts tests and examination results,

    • Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation,




  • Performs other tasks as requested.

  • Follows confidentiality and security rules when providing information to outside sources per the practices confidentiality agreement,



  • Demonstrates prioritization and adequate problem-solving techniques in handling patient issues, both in person and on the telephone,



  • Utilizes practice administrator, and physicians as appropriate when questions/concerns arise regarding any aspect of the practice.




  • Productivity:



  • Consistently completes job assignments within assigned job hours,



  • Coordinates time off with physician scheduling.



  • Maintains productivity by the flexible and efficient organization of the medical practice duties.

  • Follows appropriate chain of command to resolve issues,



  • Utilizes positive verbal and non-verbal communications when addressing patients, patient's family, external customers, and co-workers,

  • KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:



  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices and regulations to give and evaluate patient care,

  • Knowledge of how to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care,


Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment,


Education/Experience:



  • BSN, MSN preferred,



  • Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program



Oral/Written Communication Skills:



  • Logical and concise communication skills to interpret and explain moderately complex information,



  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills.


To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:



  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to use an electronic health record


Certificates and Licenses:



  • Current state RN license,



  • Current DEA.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:









Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stress in emergency situations and irregular hours.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • Office setting, well lighted, well ventilated atmosphere,



  • Occasional exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions common to an office situation
