Job Description Summary: Swinerton Renewable Energy (SRE) is the largest solar Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) services provider in North America. The responsibility of the Policy Associate is to support the work of the policy team, through research, coordinating and managing deliverables, interfacing with internal and external stakeholders, attending meetings, and performing some administrative tasks. This position is team oriented and fast paces.
Job Description:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The Policy Associate reports to the Director of Policy and Stakeholder Engagement. The Policy Associate:
Provides administrative support to the Director of Policy and Stakeholder Engagement and the Deputy Director of Government Affairs.
Drafts routine correspondence, including e-mail communications to SRE team members, Capitol Hill, and regulatory agencies
Maintains updated documents and databases, including keeping fact sheets, company and stakeholder mapping, and other advocacy materials up-to-date
Conducts research on legislative policy issues and manages legislative tracking on key issues at the Federal and State level.
Attends meetings and briefings on behalf of the SRE, providing summaries and analyses of proceedings and alerting the Director and Deputy Director of important issues and deadlines.
Coordinates the drafting and dissemination bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly legislative reports to broader company on legislative activities.
Organizes and coordinates internal and external facing meetings between colleagues, industry partners, clients, policymakers and trade association
MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated interest and/or work experience in energy policy.
The ability to work directly with internal and external stakeholders, with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality. Meticulous attention to detail is essential.
The ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team environment in a cordial and tactful manner.
A strong work ethic and cheerful customer-service attitude in order to thrive in our fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel and Outlook).
EXPERIENCE:
1-3 years of experience, preferably in a congressional office, trade association, lobbying firm, or other advocacy organization
EDUCATION:
A bachelor's degree in political science, economics, or other public policy discipline
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is currently a remote position in the Washington DC area.
