Job Description Summary: Swinerton Renewable Energy (SRE) is the largest solar Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services provider in North America. This position reports to the SWPP Manager and also supervises a Certified Inspector. As part of the SWPP team the Engineer will review and conduct site visits to utility-scale renewable energy projects to ensure compliance with environmental permits and civil engineering plans, coordinating and managing deliverables, interfacing with internal and external stakeholders, attending meetings, and performing tasks as noted in the position description below. Job Description:
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
Communicate project specific SWPPP requirements (Swinerton requirements, owner/contract requirements, and permit requirements) to field team.
For each site under their control, ensures:
Frequency of inspections is correct
SWPPP Binder is kept up to date and corrective action logs are being done appropriately (including date, time, and location)
BMPs are properly implemented or corrected within 48 to 72 hours (depending on requirements of permit) and suggestions are made on additional BMPs as needed
Provide corrective action recommendations in areas where erosion is occurring
Projects remain in compliance and all permit requirements are followed
Communicates any items that are out of compliance to project Certified Inspector and Superintendent
Reviews, via sunscreen, inspection reports created by Certified Inspector.
If corrective actions are identified as needed in the inspection report, follows up with SRE field team to ensure that corrective actions are taken in the appropriate amount of time (48 to 72 hours, depending on permit requirements, from notification of violation).
Physically performs site compliance inspection every four (4) to eight (8) weeks depending on season and issues occurring at the project.
Provide on-site training or instruction and guidance to Certified Inspector
Complete other responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
Ability to travel extensively to various job sites throughout the United States
Anticipated percentage of time spent traveling: 80% to 100%
Civil/SWPPP Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience
Ability to obtain nationwide Storm Water Certifications such as CESSWI or CPESC (able to obtain at least a CESSWI-IT or CPESC-IT temporarily until enough experience is obtained)
Experience working with field staff desirable
Knowledge and experience in federal and state regulatory processes desirable.
Knowledge and experience working with state storm water programs
Knowledge and experience with grading practices
Ability to read and understand civil plans and specifications
Effective organizational skills
Ability in problem-solving
strong sense of urgency
Work Environment and Physical Demands :
Occasional exposure to weather, vibration, dust and fumes, electric shock, radiation, toxic/caustic chemicals
Constant ability to see details at close range and at a distance, hear, and talk, and possess depth perception
Occasional climbing and carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, working in high exposed places
The noise intensity level is high
