The opportunity Our U.S. Gas Compression team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business. We are seeking a Maintenance Lead who has knowledge and experience to provide technical expertise and consultation to optimize the repairs and maintenance of TC Energy's compression fleet and provide high-level technical support to assure optimum efficiency and equipment reliability in the pipeline system. This individual will possess a high level of mechanical expertise in the testing and repair of various types of engines, compressors, and other major equipment, understanding of transmission / storage operations, equipment usage and strategic value, and excellent knowledge of applicable codes, procedures, policies, and regulations.
This position may be filled at other company locations in Southern Michigan, Wisconsin or Northern Indiana depending on the location of the successful candidate.
What you'll do
Be the primary contact for notifications from TC Energy's real time compression fleet monitoring system
Act as the liaison between Engineering Services and Operations in leading the operational support function for the compressor fleet by emphasizing safety, quality and fiscal responsibility
Acts as an expert compressor lead engaged in the operation and mechanical analytics of compressor station machinery and other equipment
Partner with the ES Equipment Analyst Leader, Fleet Managers and Reliability Engineers in monitoring predictive maintenance analyst program which includes developing and maintaining standards, performance analysis, vibration analysis, thermography analysis and oil analysis
Provide information necessary for accurate pipeline modeling and for compliance with air quality standards
Act as interfacing consultant for equipment manufacturers, external service providers, management, engineering, station teams, etc.
Develop, lead and help manage compression fleet projects
Utilize historical data, market demands, and fleet status as determining factors for the development and implementation of compression equipment replacement, upgrades, repairs, and modifications
Maintain a working knowledge of developing technologies as they apply to existing equipment for the purpose of enhancing pipeline applications
Provide technical consultation and guidance to Operations in troubleshooting compression related operating problems, integrating theoretical factors with practical consideration and a directed effort toward cost containment and operating efficiency
Interpret load curves and maps from the Compressor Performance Analysis
Provide direction to Operations Managers and Leaders in necessary repair methods upon findings from a variety of electronic testing equipment to achieve optimum performance of engine and compressor equipment such as: laser alignment equipment to align motors, pumps, engines, compressors and turbines. Borescope to perform internal inspections on engines, compressors and turbines
Advise Operations Managers, Team Leaders and compressor station personnel of problems, if any; recommend remedial action and adjustments necessary to facilitate proper operation
Work with teams to ensure follow-up work orders are created to document problems and repairs that need to be completed by compressor station personnel
Provide professional expertise in making necessary adjustments, observe repairs and/or analyze feedback, follow up
Assist in the building of job plans to ensure consistent maintenance is performed across the company
Work with Operations Managers and Leaders to ensure failure reporting is captured correctly using PC and/or hand-held devices
Prepare reports of repairs and adjustments performed on the engines and other station equipment
Provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel for optimum performance and maintenance of equipment and the performing of maintenance tasks (i.e. compressor cylinder alignment and crankshaft web defection.)
Oversee the maintenance of instruments, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance activities
Interpret the analyzer patterns and other instrument output in conjunction with working knowledge of operation and maintenance of gas engines, compressors, auxiliaries, controls, etc. and determine problems, if any
Review station operating and maintenance records for accuracy, completeness, and diagnostic purposes
Travel to various compressor stations in the event of major equipment failures, analyze operating problems, investigate causes, recommend remedial repairs/procedures, and recommend precautions to avoid future occurrences
Other tasks as required
Minimum qualifications
Graduation from a 2-3 year technical school program
Technical operational expertise in compression and gas conditioning
10+ years' experience with expert knowledge of natural gas (overall energy) industry
Preferred qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline
Project management and process improvement skills
Leadership experience
This position requires candidates to
Have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record

Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home.
