Overall Purpose:

Provide technical and administrative support to the Operations Center to ensure system reliability. Prepares and provides technical reports to support the Operations Center in the areas of transmission operations, system reliability, and other duties as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Support daily activities of the Operations Center related to the transmission, sub transmission systems and substation operations.

  • Support Operations Center Reliability Engineers (OCRE) as necessary, day ahead and and/or short term studies to ensure transmission and sub transmission reliability.

  • Assist and work closely with OCRE, System Planning, Protection, and Compliance as needed.

  • Works with Operations Center Training & Compliance to create and/or update System Operations Manuals (SOM's).

  • Works with Operations Center Training & Compliance to develop and pilot training materials.

  • Develop temporary and permanent operating guides and procedures as needed to ensure continued reliability of the system as needed.

  • Provides technical support to the Operations Center for various systems and equipment (HPFF Pipe Type cable, monitoring systems, switchgear, autotransformers, etc.) as necessary.

  • Assist the Switching Dispatchers in the design and maintenance of the SOC Mapboard.

  • Works with Outage Coordination to proactively prepare updates for the Operations Center Sub-T and Transmission circuit maps, Substation Single Lines, and Reclosing Time Maps

  • Complete data and evidence gathering to support regulatory related reporting and compliance audits

  • Provide technical support for the System Restoration Plan and other Emergency Plans for the Operations Center

  • Assist in the development of, and participate in, emergency preparedness drills (GridEx, EarthEx, PJM Grid Security Drill, Storm Drill, etc.)

  • Prepares reports and maintains databases related to the transmission, sub transmission, and distribution systems and submits reports as required for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provides technical support to Operations Center personnel for new equipment installed on the DLC system.

  • Assist with Storm Team related tasks like pre-event communications, weather update communications, completing storm reports and fulfill a Storm Role as assigned

  • Participates in various internal and external committees as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college.

  • Must possess strong organizational, computer, and problem solving skills.

  • Must possess valid driver's license and be able to drive to various company locations. May be required to drive in inclement weather to support emergency service restoration obligations.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Utility experience

  • PE License

  • Experience in SCADA systems, OMS systems, and State Estimator Modeling.

  • Experience with AutoCAD

Physical Requirements:

Work location is a combination of office environment and occasional field work. Desk and computer work is required. Evening and weekend work may be required. Participation on the DLC Storm Team is required which may require working during non-typical work hours, during emergency service restoration efforts or other emergent situations.
