Section 1: Position Summary

The Associate Telecom Engineer will support the Ascensus voice network infrastructure environment. The role will ensure the maximum performance of a high traffic voice infrastructure while maintaining system integrity. The Associate Telecom Engineer will handle systems to include Cisco CUCM, Cisco Unity and Jabber. The role requires working knowledge of CUCM with a focus on day to day maintenance and tasks and knows how to collaborate on large-scale projects but can also complete assigned tasks independently.

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • Support the global VoIP network infrastructure

  • Perform maintenance, installations, upgrades, and other technical duties related to the operation of internal telecommunication networks/systems

  • Monitor and analyze system traffic and prepare reports

  • Respond to telecommunication requests and make recommendations for improving system performance

  • Maintain an advanced voice network

  • Troubleshoot voice and network issues on a routine basis

  • Understanding of MPLS and other WAN services and technologies including SIP and routing

  • Administer and troubleshoot Unified Call Manager, voicemail, IVR CVP, and supporting infrastructure

  • Maintain documentation of the UC environment and operational procedures

  • Support end user issue resolution

  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure availability of environment 24x7

  • Experience with business continuity, high availability and disaster recovery

Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience in network voice and call center environments

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline

  • Knowledge of Cisco IP telephony and UCC Call Center technologies and solutions

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Good team player, willing to share knowledge with the team

  • Highly effective communicator (written & verbal)

  • Cisco Certifications desired (CCNA - Voice/Collaboration)
