Covia is looking for a dynamic Electrical and Instrumentation Technician who will have a positive impact on our team at our Junction City, GA location. Electrical and Instrumentation Technician is responsible for maintaining and Implementing electrical power circuits and equipment. Maintains control and automation systems, electronic and pneumatic equipment used in industrial applications, compressor stations, pump stations, plant operations and measurement facilities. Also, E&I technician is responsible for programming assembly lines for our manufacturing processes using programmable logic controllers (PLC).




The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities:



  • Performs Inspection and Maintenance (I&M) checks on all control systems;

  • Perform preventative maintenance checks on pumps, compressors, drivers, and auxiliary equipment;

  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns;

  • Be responsible, self-motivated, and committed to maintaining highest standards of quality;

  • Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, clean, repair, and reassemble equipment such as MCCs, motors, instruments, valves, etc. according to oral and written instructions;

  • Maintaining equipment installed in electrically classified areas;

  • With appropriate electrical qualifications, certification, experience, and/or training, can work on 480 voltage equipment;

  • Work closely with Maintenance Technicians and Process Technicians on site, as well as assist teammates in completing tasks outside the scope of typical responsibilities;

  • Maintain parts inventory;

  • Plan maintenance work with operations, contractors, and other plant employees as requested by Maintenance supervisor;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.




The successful incumbent will have the following Minimum Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma or GED required;

  • Literacy in English, both verbally and written;

  • Understanding of process control;

  • Strong electrical knowledge, aptitude and troubleshooting skills;

  • Self-starter with systematic decision making, problem solving and troubleshooting skills;

  • Knowledge of Wonderware software;

  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley hardware and software;

  • Experience with HMI programing: Rockwell or Wonderware;

  • Ability to use calibration, measuring, and testing equipment;

  • Ability to utilize computer-based maintenance management system (CMMS);

  • Electrical and PLC coding knowledge is mandatory;

  • Troubleshoot electrical or control issues by reading logic in PLCs and HMI;

  • Troubleshoot Control-NET & Ethernet communication control issues using diagnostic equipment or software;

  • Experience programing and troubleshooting settings on VFDs;

  • Intermediate computer skills; must be computer literate;

  • Self-motivated able to work with minimal supervision;

  • Ability and willingness to work safely and wear PPE as required;

  • Experience using smart devices: Tablets, iPad;

  • Good communication skills: verbal and written.
