Job TitleBeauty Assistant, Real Simple & Health
I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
The Beauty Assistant plays an integral role in creating compelling content across Real Simple and Health for both our readers and our advertisers. This person is responsible for pitching story ideas across all platforms with a focus on print.
Major goals include but are not limited to: keep team running smoothly on a day-to-day basis by handling scheduling, calling in high res images, fact-checking all stories across both brands, pitching story ideas, completing writing assignments/meeting deadlines, setting up run-throughs, ensuring photographers have products in a timely fashion, handling unboxing, managing the beauty closet, interviewing company founders/top beauty experts/celebrities, and attending beauty market events (Zooms, desksides, events, press trips). This candidate should have a writing background and be passionate about beauty (brands, trends, etc.).
II. Essential Job Functions
Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
Organizational/administrative tasks: unboxing/organizing/filing beauty mailers, managing the new shared beauty closet, calling in products and high res images for photoshoots
Pitching story ideas across both brands for FOB and well beauty sections and writing story assignments
Interviewing top beauty experts (hairstylists, makeup artists, derms, etc.), brand founders, celebrities and representing RS and Health at market events
Enthusiastic about beauty: stays on top of trends, how-tos, up and coming brands, etc.
III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
Bachelor's Degree-Journalism or Communications preferred but not required
1 editorial beauty internship highly preferred, writing samples preferred
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Beauty knowledge (trends, brands), social media savvy, open to being on camera
% Travel Required (Approximate): 10% to beauty press trips
