Real Estate Accounting Business Intelligence Developer

We're actively seeking a talented Real Estate Accounting Business Intelligence Developer to join our Real Estate Investment Accounting team in Newport Beach, CA. This role does have flexibility to work remotely in a hybrid setting.

As a Real Estate Accounting Business Intelligence Developer, you'll play a key role in Pacific Life's growth and long-term success by helping the team maintain and improve the use of our digital platforms. You will fill an existing role that sits on a team in the Real Estate Group within the Corporate division. Your colleagues will include Accounting professionals that are improving their usage of Real Estate Investment softwares. This position is part of the Mortgage Loan Accounting team but will work with the Real Estate Equity Accounting and Reporting group on a daily basis. The Real Estate Accounting group works on Mortgage Loan Investments, Equity Investments and Reporting on Management and Financial information related to Real Estate investments. The position will also work with the Real Estate Investment team as a whole to improve the Production, Servicing, Accounting teams and IT teams improvements.


How you will make an impact:

  • Gain an understanding of Mortgage Loan and Real Estate accounting transactions as to how these transactions are processed to the Corporate General ledger and related Corporate General Ledger tools. Provide and train recommendations for processing improvements.

  • Responsible for being the Enterprise (E!) and Yardi SME for REI Accounting and Reporting. E! is the mortgage loan system used by REI to process loan payments and track key mortgage loan data.Yardi is our Real Estate equity investment accounting system. As improvements or new releases are contemplated, this position will review the recommended changes, attend implementation planning meetings, determine the impact to REI Accounting and Reporting, and complete all necessary test scripts.

  • Gain an understanding of the various reports and queries used by REI Accounting and Reporting and work with Corporate technology to make changes or create new reports when necessary.

  • As the SME for the above application and reporting tools you will be expected to:

    • Ensure all data from E! and Yardi interface properly to PeopleSoft and work with Technology to make changes when necessary

    • Assist in the improvements of daily reconciliation issues

    • Communicate REI system & report change requirements to Corporate Technology and then work to implement these new or changed reports

    • Assist REI staff with questions about the systems

    • Attend periodic vendor conferences for the related systems

    • Work with other areas of the Company to exchange ideas about how we can improve upon our use of these systems




The experience you will bring:


  • 7 - 10 years of System Analyst Experience

  • Yardi experience required

  • General Accounting and Reporting experience

  • Strong technical experience interface experience

  • Excellent Communication Skills

  • Ability to partner with Real Estate software companies to improve the usage of our system platform

  • Proven ability to drive process improvements


What will make you stand out:


  • Software systems: Yardi Administration and Reporting in Voyager iPlus and YSR, Enterprise, PeopleSoft, MicroSoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Visio, PowerAutomate, PowerBI

  • Exposure to or strong experience with Peoplesoft

  • Experience in documentation and leadership related to system upgrades or conversions

  • Experience with IT audits

  • Experience with automated testing tools; robotics.
