Our greatest asset has been and will continue to be our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Senior Counsel within our Legal Department based in Houston, TX.


  • Drafting, negotiating, interpreting and advising business units on a variety of drilling, construction, and procurement agreements in support of exploration, production, and operations activities in the Gulf of Mexico.

  • Advising and counseling business units on other commercial matters including contract interpretations and contractor disputes.

  • Interfacing with various internal stakeholder groups such as Risk Management, Credit, HSE, Regulatory and Audit to ensure compliance with the company's policies and procedures in the relevant procurement contracts.

  • Researching various legal issues related to company's operations and the impact of such issues on the company's contracting strategy for goods and services in the Gulf of Mexico.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications


  • Juris Doctorate from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association

  • 8 or more years as a licensed attorney

  • 4 or more years of experience in the oil and gas industry

  • Experience supporting oil and gas activities in the Gulf of Mexico

  • Extensive experience handling a wide variety of Gulf of Mexico procurement agreements, including drilling contracts, master service contracts, fabrication agreements, construction contracts, master time charters agreements and master flight services agreements.

  • Proactive approach to providing commercial minded advice and guidance to a variety of business units.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and collaborative work style.

  • Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualification


  • 3 or more years legal experience at a recognized law firm.

  • Experience with import/export compliance a plus.

  • Experience handling seismic and G&G data agreements a plus.
