General Mills is seeking to hire an experienced strategy professional to join our Corporate Strategy team. General Mills recently declared a new vision to be the Undisputed Leader in Food and introduced a new Accelerate strategic framework. The Corporate Strategy team supports the CEO and senior business leaders to drive the Accelerate Strategy and advance initiatives key to General Mills' future growth.
The Corporate Strategy team leads project-based work with a highly collaborative approach. The role has high external orientation and offers the opportunity for enterprise-level impact and exposure to different parts of the business through a variety of project experiences. Corporate Strategy partners closely with the M&A team on business development opportunities. The ideal candidate will have experience in strategy consulting and have demonstrated ability to influence at the most senior levels of an organization.
Responsibilities
Partner with the VP Corporate Strategy, CEO, and Senior Leadership Team to drive the execution of, continuously evolve, and hold the organization accountable for the long-term (3-5 year) enterprise strategy
Frame up strategic choices that inform execution of the enterprise strategy, including defining where to play and how to win
Provide thought leadership, an external, future-focused lens, and a growth mindset to actively influence strategy development and execution
Lead key initiatives that directly support the execution of the enterprise strategy
Oversee internal and external project teams that are cross-functional in nature
Identify and deconstruct business issues and develop strategic, analytical, and financial frameworks to conduct analyses and influence enterprise decisions
Ensure analysis is informed by external consumer, competitive, and macroeconomic / geopolitical trends
Prepare "executive ready" project deliverables and manage alignment and communication with key stakeholders
As a senior member of the Corporate Strategy team, build and develop all team members
Minimum Qualifications
MBA from a top-tier business school
5-10 years post-MBA, including experience in a strategy consulting firm (e.g., Bain, BCG, McKinsey)
Experience working in the context of a large, complex, global organization, where working across boundaries and leading through influence are keys to success
Experience managing teams and partnering with multiple business functions
Strategic mindset with strong critical thinking skills and ability to craft compelling business cases
Decisive thought leader with ability to influence to action
Comfort with navigating ambiguity and with being constantly challenged/stretched
Proven developer of people
Excellent communicator, both oral and written
Highly analytical, logical, structured problem solver
Thrive in a collaborative, dynamic work environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in consumer packaged goods industry, including understanding of market, customer, competitor and innovation trends (may include food, packaged goods, or personal care)
Global perspective, ideally with experience working outside of the U.S.
