Position Overview

At Verisk Financial Research our mission is to be the payments industry's trusted research partner. With truly global coverage, our reports, online services and newsletters are valued by industry professionals in multiple geographies. We deliver essential data, insights and market commentary to leading banks, issuers, networks, FinTechs, investors and other players in the payments ecosystem, helping them to identify business opportunities and supporting their growth strategies.

Working as part of an experienced team producing data and analysis on consumer banking and payments markets around the world, the Banking and Payments Researcherwill be responsible for delivering high-quality industry research reports covering a wide range of geographic markets. Developing deep domain knowledge, the Banking and Payments Researcherwill, over time, use their industry expertise to support Verisk Financial Research and Verisk Financials' wider business through a range of client engagements and thought leadership output.

The specific responsibilities associated with this position include:

• Leverage public information and primary sources to compile data and write insightful, concise reports on payments and banking around the world.


• Monitor industry themes and developments with a particular focus on cards and payments, including mobile payments.


• Using their knowledge of industry trends and data, contribute to industry newsletters and other Verisk Financial thought leadership output, including, but not limited to, white papers, insights articles and client presentations.


• Build upon existing research methodology to streamline processes and create efficiencies.


• Innovate new ways to present research output, including data visualizations.


• Contribute to the development of new processes to capture data and upload to our database.


• Document methodology and continually strive to improve product quality.

Location

We are primarily looking for the Research Analyst to join our team in Westport, Co. Mayo, Ireland; working remotely initially, with some days in the office per week once pandemic restrictions are lifted. We will also consider applications for remote working from experienced candidates

Qualifications

• Numerical and analytical ability, including strong Excel skills.


• The capacity to condense findings into concise and engaging prose.


• A demonstrable understanding of financial services, preferably consumer finance and the credit card/payments industry.


• Experience of desk-based research.


• The ability to work accurately to plan: good project management skills are essential.


• Experience with databases such as SQL and visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI are an advantage.


• Foreign language skills would be an advantage in this role.
