Job Title: Stationary EMCS Engineer SFOF (Rover) - 2nd shift (2:30 pm to 11:00 pm)


Job Summary:


EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for an EMCS Engineer SFOF (Rover) at the JPL site on 2nd shift (2:30pm - 11pm) The project is approx. 3 million SF with more than 200 buildings on campus. The EMCS / PCC Stationary Engineer must be experienced in operating Energy Management Control Systems (EMCS) and have HVAC / Electrical experience. The EMCS / PCC Stationary Engineer interacts with customers for all EMCS and mechanical issues on the JPL site, especially during non-core hours. The JPL facility operates 24/7 365 days a year. The EMCS / PCC Stationary Engineer will be on a shift assignment that will primarily be 2nd shift (2:30 pm to 11:00 pm) There may be a need to rotate according to coverage and training needs. Some overtime may be required.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Performs day-to-day preventive maintenance and repairs regarding operational support issues of the Space Flight Operations Facility's (B230 and B264) infrastructure, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems. This also includes but is not limited to items such as maintaining plant operations logs, performing power certifications, and performing required scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.

  • Primary responsibility is for buildings 230 and 264 during core hours but has the responsibility for the entire site during non-core hours.

  • Responsible for the completion of all PM and record keeping assigned to his/her areas of responsibility.

  • Performs outage restoration coordination and responds to all plant wide emergencies or abnormal conditions.

  • Supports SFOF EMCS / PCC Operator for the initiation of Flash Reports for all critical equipment breakdowns and Facility Infrastructure interruptions.

  • Provides field updates to EMCOR Management and JPL key customers when critical repairs are made and or when Facility Infrastructure was restored.

  • Will serve as first responders after hours in support of the entire site in cases of system disturbance so that the electrical, plumbing, mechanical or other system(s) can be restored to a normal configuration. The Stationary Engineer - Rover, when possible will fully address the issue and document the resolution.

  • Coordinate additional staffing/resource requirements through EMCS / PCC Operator on-site (during non-core hours) to handle emergencies beyond the capabilities of on-site staff. May also be required to interface directly with other Managers / Supervisors (i.e. Program Manager, Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager, SFOF Manager / Supervisor and Leads) as required to address emergency situations.

  • Recommend operational improvements and communicate system events to SFOF Supervisor regarding the condition of buildings 230 and 264 during core hours.

  • Supports SFOF EMCS / PCC Operator with event reporting and logs all events during the shift.

  • Performs all assigned PM maintenance and repair work orders for B230 and 264

  • Performs maintenance on assigned utility cart.

  • Work with the MRO group to provide vendor quotes, and information for ordering material.



Qualifications:



  • Experience with operating and monitoring Power Control Console.

  • 5 years equivalent working experience required with demonstrated understanding of electrical, HVAC, plumbing and mechanical systems.

  • Related certification(s) from an accredited institution or technical trade school.

  • Must possess knowledge of operation, maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment, and tools to operate and maintain the systems.

  • Must have knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to their field (CMMS, Microsoft applications and email).

  • Must be able to move/lift heavy objects, climb vertical ladders and work at various heights.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and good customer service skills.

  • Ability to read and write in the English Language.

  • Valid CA driver's license.

  • Must have the ability to multi-task, be organized, pay attention to detail, be dependable, and be a team player.

  • Flexibility to work alternate schedules as necessary.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned to meet customer critical missions.

  • Provide own basic hand tools.

  • Must be able and willing to work 2nd shift hours of 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm.
