The Manager, Validation is responsible for executing all aspects of validation and demonstrating skills in management of a team, assessing process risks, validating accuracy of data completeness and accuracy for lookback purposes, identifying and evaluating the design of controls, and executing and documenting validation tests for the First Line of Defense. The Manager, Validation ensures work is completed with quality and all evidence is retained to support findings.
Responsibilities:
Manages validation activities for the First Line of Defense, ensuring validation are completed within required timeframes and meet quality expectations
Manages, mentors, trains, and evaluates a team of Validation Analysts
Oversees team who conducts lookbacks and validates accuracy of population logic, date, and report that identify the impacted population and validates performance of the lookback against the approved lookback review strategy document to ensure the lookback was performed accurately and effectively
Oversees design solution of control reports (new/enhanced) and ensures solution accurately mitigates risk and tests report functionality and logic
Develops and implements streamline solutions to our validation process for the First Line of Defense
Works with Business Control Manager (BCM) and Business Control Director (BCD), as well as the Quality team to ensure underlying control effectiveness (proper review of reports, escalation strategy, etc.)
Ensures control metrics for monitoring have been considered has been incorporated where possible to ensure control sustainability can be easily tested
Ensures the best preventative and automated controls were considered by the business
Reviews written summary of validation findings developed by team
Oversees the review of credible challenge of existing metrics being reported tied to controls to ensure that the logic, data, and report is accurate; consolidates the data into the control dashboards and works with the BCDs/BCMs to document/update the applicable RCSAs with the control design and effectiveness output
Authors policies and regulations within the Office of the Chief Control Officer
Understands and complies with all policies, procedures, and regulations relating to job duties
Reviews peer validation documentation, as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required; Master's degree preferred
7+ years of Mortgage Servicing, QA/QC, or Risk Management experience required
5+ years of managerial experience preferred
Strong project management skills coordinating assignments, tracking/monitoring progress, and reporting on status
Self-motivated, with capacity to effectively analyze risk and proactively identify issues
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex and sensitive issues to business management in a persuasive manner
Proven ability to build strong relationships with business, desire to learn quickly, be flexible, and think strategically
Proven ability to multitask and assess and change priorities
Ability to work well individually and in teams, share information, support colleagues, and encourage participation
Strong analytical ability, time management, problem solving, and written and oral communication skills
Must possess strong attention to detail and have the ability to make sound, independent decisions based on functional expertise and experience
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, SharePoint, and Outlook)
Ability to work well in a fast paced environment
